Thankyou to all customers for the successful conclusion of another busy year …!
This is our quiet time now, the Shop is not routinely open, and will not be so until first week in March 2025. However, I will always open by prior appointment, so send me an email or ring me, and I’ll arrange something. Mail order continues as usual.
We are waiting with bated breath to see if anything untoward happens to Royal Mail, now that it has been taken over by a million(billion-?)-aire … I know nothing about what imperatives have been written into that contract, nor where the focus of said billionaire lies, but I think most island business would suffer if Royal Mail were no longer available or economically viable, because of our difficult relationship with couriers …
Also Callanish Visitor Centre is going to be neither Open nor accessible for perhaps a couple of years yet, due to rebuilding, and it remains to be seen how their consequent tour cancellations impact businesses. I am unable to convince my dog that I’m not depriving him of one of his favourite walks on purpose …!
There is one price rise for this year – miniature pieces of soap have risen from £1.00 to £1.30. They used to be cut from just the end-pieces of the full-size soap blocks we make – a sort of waste-product … But they became so popular that there weren’t enough to go around, and we now cut bars into 4 to meet demand. The price of a full bar is £5, so a quarter of that soap bar must be at least a quarter of that amount.
I look forward to meeting a lot of you, in our workshop this year …!
