The sun was shiney today, and not too many midges, so Zig and I went to one of our favourite places – the walk by the side of the big loch, on the Grimersta estate, on the way to Uig … Landed gentry fish here, in the season, and the waters are fresh and clear …

We found a Fox and Cubs flower – sticks out like a sore thumb here, because there’s nothing else like it, and you don’t see it too often … It is the deep red-orange that you imagine a fox will be, and the flowers nestle around each other, as cubs would around their mother …

People accuse me of bathing Ziggy daily because he never gets dirty, well here’s a picture of him dirty, after pronking around the marshes like a wild thing … I never bath him actually, with his short coat, all he needs is a brush and a wipe once the worst has dried …!
