As you may know, Royal Mail small parcels for the UK rose in price from £4.59 to £4.99 with effect from 5th April 2025.
As Royal Mail is the only option open to me on the island, due to courier option costing double that price per parcel, I can only use Royal Mail for my parcels. It’s a good option though – I have a 99% success rate of UK parcels turning up, over my 25 years of doing mail-order …
I’ve absorbed a few price increases up to now – the website charges £4.40 still, which used to include a portion of the cost of packaging materials, but ended up not even covering rate of first class postage …!
I’ve decided that I’m not going to increase the £4.40 basic website charge … However I am going to try to move towards sending parcels by Royal Mail Tracked 48 service, which costs closer to £3.79 per parcel, up to 2kgs, and gives me and my customers the security of being Tracked along its way.
I hope the change will be transparent for us all … !
